Presentation of the Center
ENGLISHZONE was born following numerous requests from parents looking for language courses in an extracurricular setting. Gayle, originally from the Philippines, and fluent in English from a young age (see portrait) started ENGLISHZONE in 2014, starting with teaching English to children. Since then, the demands have continued to grow and the school has diversified, also offering other foreign languages such as Spanish, Italian, and German. In addition, Math tutorial is now available!
The proximity to Switzerland and the linguistic constraints demanded by many international companies located on the other side of the lake have made Chablais residents aware of the importance of mastering not only English but other foreign languages in order to find their future career; to be able to compete or stay competitive in their chosen field therefore, the stakes are high in our Lake Geneva region.
Located in Avenue d’Abondance in Évian, our premises are ideally located with multiple surrounding parking spaces.
Our Approach
- Total immersion in the chosen foreign language
You will benefit from language courses, in English, Spanish, Italian and German a total immersion from an early age. At ENGLISHZONE, there is no translation, the ear is gradually shaped by the foreign language used. With frequent use of the language, it will eventually lead into developing the capacity to understand and use expression naturally.
- ENGLISH ZONE, a cultural journey in the heart of Evian!
For us, it is natural to explore American/British culture alongside with other languages that we teach to learn the culture! (Acquiring vocabularies versus learning the culture are two different matter!)
For instance, in Spanish, the culture of Hispanic countries is part of the information to know and can be approached through films, songs, poems …

Therefore, at ENGLISHZONE, we are committed to surrounding ourselves with a team of qualified teachers. Our teachers are either native speakers of the language that they are teaching, experienced teachers with proper teaching diplomas to guarantee that they are highly trained to manage and complete the program appropriately. More than a course, you will literally be immersed in the culture of the language alongside teachers who are passionate about their profession and who want to pass on their knowledge. The same goes for mathematics thanks to a qualified and highly motivated teacher!

A real guarantee of quality, English courses are framed by the Cambridge method, recognized around the world. Throughout the year, we keep the program linked to the method as a common thread. Students who wish to do so can validate their level and their achievements at the end of the year according to the criteria imposed by Cambridge. In this case, we prepare students for the exam so that they have every chance of success. Most of our students, leave with their diploma in pocket!
- A personalized approach
Our courses are taught individually or in mini groups of a maximum of 6 participants. The advantage of this approach is to be able to move forward at your own pace and provide a personalized listening and speaking experience as well as the quick improvement on reading and writing comprehension. We also establish current level by evaluating them to ensure that they can join the appropriate group to allow each student to feel at ease and to progress according to their objectives.
- Learn while having fun!
Because we are convinced that play-acting is an incredible path of learning, especially for children. Our teaching is often presented in a playful form, through the practice of board games or role plays that put the students directly in a situation. A proven method for developing listening and speaking skills while having fun!
Our Team
Gayle
English Teacher and Founder of ENGLISH ZONE
Originally from the Philippines, Gayle grew up learning two main languages, Filipino and English. At the age of 13, she moved to California where she remained until the end of her high school years before returning to the Philippines to pursue her graduate studies in Law. She began her professional career in Sales & Marketing, then was hired in a French company located in her country. She met her husband there and they decided to move to Brittany in 2008. It was there, a bit by chance, that Gayle began to take an interest in Teaching English as a foreign language and started tutorial classes in her area using Cambridge method of teaching while providing some support courses in English. She discovered that she enjoys teaching, sharing, and transmitting her culture. She moved to Evian in 2012 when her husband had an opportunity to work in Switzerland. By then, she also had the opportunity to work in a private Swiss aviation company as a Sales & Marketing Manager. During this time, her daughter started school and Gayle was repeatedly approached by some parents who asked her if she can teach their children English after school. After analyzing the market, the demand was indeed solid. Gayle decided to create the ENGLISHZONE in April 2014. Convinced that having a structured system will make a difference, she applied as Cambridge Preparatory Center and obtained the status in 2015. Originally located opposite the Lycée Anna de Noailles in 2020 the center moved into its new location in Avenue d’Abondance. The English center is now expanding to other services by offering Spanish, Italian, and German as a foreign language as well as the mathematics as additional tutorial services. With a team of motivated teachers, Gayle is a friendly and welcoming woman, an entrepreneur at heart, attentive and full of ideas! ENGLISHZONE should see its services expand in the coming years with some interesting proposals!
EMILIE
ENGLISH TEACHER
French-American, Emilie grew up between the United States and France. With a background in retail buying, Emilie has lived and worked in various countries including the US, Canada, Italy, and Israel, and has also taught English online and as a volunteer. Having had to learn several languages along the way (including English when she was 6), she is passionate about language learning and enjoys creating a fun, friendly, and educational atmosphere for her students. Emilie has recently joined the ENGLISH ZONE team and looks forward to sharing her culture and seeing her students’ progress.
NATHALIE
GERMAN & ITALIAN TEACHER
Nathalie grew up in Switzerland (Swiss-German area) in a bilingual family that speaks French and German. At a young age, she is fortunate to have the capacity to learn and speak different languages easily. During her student years, she has been in London, and this is how she learned English as her 3rd language. Afterwards, she used to spend most of her summer in Italy and learned Italian as her 4th language. These experiences traveling and growing up in a multilingual environment allowed her to have many opportunities especially in the international trading industries. Her passion for languages now brings her desire to share and help others discover the benefits and the beauty of being bilingual if not multilingual!
CAROLINE
MATHEMATICS TEACHER
Caroline arrived in Haute Savoie after completing her Masters in Management in Economics. Being a mother of 3 children, she’s always been involved in providing the necessary support for their academic needs. She actively participated as the president of the Parents-Teacher’s association for many years. Her diligence and commitment in maintaining open communication between parents and teachers, plus her capacity in the organization, and providing necessary support to students are quite natural for her. Her passion for numbers and mathematical logic combined with her ability to teach in a clear and fun way, allow children at all levels to see that it is possible to excel in mathematics without having the famous “mathematical minds”! She recently joined the ENGLISHZONE team as a Math teacher. This service is dedicated to providing a personalized way of analyzing numbers while promoting critical thinking and methodology to help students easily grasp the concept of solving Math while having fun!
