Presentation of the Center
English Zone was born following numerous requests from parents looking for language courses in an extracurricular setting. Gayle, originally from the Philippines and fluent in English from a young age, started English Zone in 2014, starting with teaching English to children. Since then, the demands have continued to grow, and the school has diversified, also offering other foreign languages such as Spanish, Italian, and German plus Mathematics!
The proximity to Switzerland and the linguistic constraints demanded by many international companies located on the other side of the lake have made Chablais residents aware of the importance of mastering not only English but other foreign languages in order to find their future career; to be able to compete or stay competitive in their chosen field therefore, the stakes are high in our Lake Geneva region.
Located in Avenue d’Abondance in Évian, our premises are ideally located with multiple surrounding parking spaces.
Our Approach

coursesYou will benefit from language courses in English, Spanish, Italian, and German, a total immersion from an early age. At English Zone, there is no translation; the ear is gradually shaped by the foreign language used. With frequent use of the language, it will eventually lead into developing the capacity to understand and use expression naturally.
- ENGLISH ZONE, a cultural journey in the heart of Evian!
For us, it is natural to explore American/British culture alongside other languages that we teach to learn the culture! (Acquiring vocabularies versus learning the culture are two different matter!)
For instance, in Spanish, the culture of Hispanic countries is part of the information to know and can be approached through films, songs, and poems.

Therefore, at ENGLISH ZONE, we are committed to surrounding ourselves with a team of qualified teachers. Our teachers are either native speakers of the language that they are teaching or experienced teachers with proper teaching diplomas to guarantee that they are highly trained to manage and complete the program appropriately. More than a course, you will literally be immersed in the culture of the language alongside teachers who are passionate about their profession and who want to pass on their knowledge. The same goes for mathematics thanks to a qualified and highly motivated teacher!

A real guarantee of quality, English courses are framed by the Cambridge method, recognized around the world. Throughout the year, we keep the program linked to the method as a common thread. Students who wish to do so can validate their level and their achievements at the end of the year according to the criteria imposed by Cambridge. In this case, we prepare students for the exam so that they have every chance of success. Most of our students leave with their diploma in pocket!
- A personalized approach
Our courses are taught individually or in minigroups of a maximum of 6 participants. The advantage of this approach is to be able to move forward at your own pace and provide a personalized listening and speaking experience, as well as quick improvement on reading and writing comprehension. We also establish their current level by evaluating them to ensure that they can join the appropriate group to allow each student to feel at ease and to progress according to their objectives.
- Learn while having fun!
We are convinced that play-acting is an incredible path of learning, especially for children. Our teaching is often presented in a playful form, through the practice of board games or role plays that put the students directly in a situation. A proven method for developing listening and speaking skills while having fun!

FOUNDER OF ENGLISHZONE
From the Philippines to France: Gayle’s Linguistic and Educational Journey
Born and raised in the Philippines, Gayle grew up bilingual, mastering both Filipino and English. At 13, she moved to California, where she completed her high school education. Afterward, she returned to the Philippines to pursue graduate studies in Law.
Gayle began her professional career in Sales and Marketing, eventually joining a French company in the Philippines. It was there that she met her future husband. In 2008, they relocated to Brittany, France. This move marked a turning point, as Gayle discovered a passion for teaching English as a foreign language. She began offering tutorial classes in her community, utilizing the Cambridge teaching method and providing additional support courses in English. This experience sparked her love for teaching and sharing her culture.
In 2012, Gayle moved to Évian-les-Bains when her husband accepted a job in Switzerland. Shortly after, she secured a role as a Sales and Marketing Manager at a private Swiss aviation company. During this time, parents of her daughter’s schoolmates frequently approached her to teach their children English after school. Realizing the strong demand for structured language education, Gayle decided to create ENGLISHZONE in April 2014.
GAYLE FERLICOQ
With a clear vision, she applied for and achieved Cambridge Preparatory Center status in 2015. Initially located opposite the Lycée Anna de Noailles, the center relocated in 2020 to a new facility in Avenue d’Abondance. Over the years, ENGLISHZONE has expanded its offerings to include Spanish, Italian, German, and mathematics tutoring classes.
With a team of enthusiastic and dedicated teachers, Gayle continues to embody the spirit of a friendly, innovative entrepreneur. Her ability to connect with people and embrace new ideas has driven ENGLISHZONE’s growth and success. Looking ahead, the center is poised to expand further, offering exciting new services in the years to come.
